Smile and the world smiles to you…
This quote’s author stays unknown for me (if you know who said it, please feel free to share) yet what this person said is the true essence of our life.
If I were to rephrase that quote, I would say “what goes in goes out” this means that whatever we think of, we make happen. If we are feeling happy, we will continue being happy no matter what happens with us during our day. If we are feeling angry, we will continue being angry no matter what happens.
Let’s take a look to two scenarios that can happen with us every single day:
1. The alarm rings, you wake up super angry, you remember how horrible your job is, you remember that you have a report due today, and you also want to sleep. You get out of bed, search for your white shirt, then you notice that it needs to be ironed, you scream “AAAAAaaaaa, how horrible can that day be”…after a long thinking, you get a new shirt, you go to the restroom to brush your teeth, where you spill some toothpaste on your other shirt, you get seriously pissed off, throw the brush on the floor, and go change the shirt. You get in the car to notice that you are super late; you get in serious traffic and start cursing….. (no need to continue the whole day, I believe the message is clear)
2. The alarm rings, you wake up happy, you remember that you don’t like your job, but what the hell, you are happy. You remember the report due, you nod, and say okay, so what, and even that you want to sleep, you can always sleep in the afternoon. You get out of bed, search for your white shirt, then you notice that it needs to be ironed, you just say “who said that I wanted my white shirt, I want the black one” without thinking, you go get your black shirt. You go to the restroom to brush your teeth, where you spill some toothpaste on your shirt, again you say “who said that I wanted the black shirt, the red is better” and you go change your shirt with a smile. You get in the car to notice that you are super late, you don’t really mind being late, it’s not the end of the world…you get in serious traffic and just smile… there’s nothing new about traffic early in the morning.
Yadi yadi yadi, you can guess how the two days ended up, who had a happy day, and who didn’t.
Now that you have read the two different examples, obviously the second is someone that woke up happy and didn’t let his bad mood affect his day. That said, we notice that smiling, or the fact of being happy is just a state of mind that affects our whole days, thus our whole lives. So the actions or circumstances will always remain the same, what can change is our attitude towards them.
And how much does our positive attitude cost us? Nothing! It cost us nothing, yet gives us a lot in return.
So, start smiling to life and see how it will smile back!
