How to Plan Your Month

It’s been a long time since I last wrote a blog post that was not related to Chantal’s 2020 Weekly Challenge.

I miss writing about planning and organizing our lives as I have been writing for more than 10 years.

This post was inspired by our weekly “Grab Your Morning Coffee with Chantal” where today on the beginning of June we talked about planning our month.

Why should we plan our month ahead of time?!

  • Improve time management
  • Improve productivity
  • Reduce stress
  • Reduce double booking yourself
  • Promotes intentional living
  • Improve lifestyle

What you will need?

  • Digital or hard copy notebook (and pen if hard copy)
  • Digital or hard copy planner

How to get started?!

On your notebook

1.    Make a list of all the things you plan to do in June. Include things left over from May. Add how much time each will take. Keep in mind that your list of things needs to match your budget.

2. Write all the appointment, events or meetings you have.

3.     Make a list of your goals for the month of June including sub-tasks for each goal. To learn how to write goals, click here.

4.     List any errands or responsibilities. Like going to the supermarket, cooking, walking the dog

5.     Make a list of your daily chores or responsibilities even if it’s different for each day. This will help blocking specific times for all of them. Make sure to add some time for yourself.

6. Add some time to spend with yourself. Read this blog post to remember why it’s important to spend time with yourself.

On your planner

8.     Once everything is written down on your notebook, you can start by transferring these to your planner. Make sure to block specific commute times, work time, and everything you plan on doing during the month.

If you notice that you have more plans that time allocated, then, you might need to wake up at 5am as I recommend here, or you need to postpone some tasks to July.

9.     After finishing this exercise, make sure to schedule some time each week to plan your week, then schedule some time daily to plan your day. Here’s why we need to plan our day.

Remember to put some appointments and meetings online and share them with the corresponding attendees.

I flipped the calendar page to June today and realized I had left myself a bunch of “to do” notes and I’ve already crossed off 3! 3 more to do today before I can go home. I appreciate your work to help get me moving on my goals.
